In Memory of and Designed by Bill Clede
Bob Steele Way
Bob Steele by Michael Keropian 2015.
Some years ago I wondered if there had ever been a sculptural tribute to Bob Steele.
I decided to reach out to Bob's sons and they loved the idea of a tribute to him.
At the time they were changing the name of Grove Street to Bob Steele Street.
Bob's sons decided on a bronze plaque that depicted their father when he first entered radio in the 1930's.
So they gave me the younger image of him and I created his likeness with hat and microphone in relief.
I incorporated the same 1930's theme and designed the rest of the plaque as an old 1930's radio.
I loved the art deco designs of radios.
